SUPER COOL!

Here is a Jefferson Glass “May Basket!”  I have not come across many of these over the years…. this one is so neat as the opal is ONLY on the twisted handle. Love the thorns!  They make it so victorian!

I have a feeling there aren’t many of these out there.  They clearly had difficulty in making them… the handles all have heat openings… and the scallops along the top rim are always rough and uneven.

It is a genuinely cool piece in that it is the only one I know of that says Mold Patent Applied For on the bottom!!

As you can see the seam goes up the handle and then the handle was free handed after that… to the left of where the handle connects, there is a small internal heat check.

A very cool piece of opalescent glass!

Made in the late 1800s/early 1900s.
